Green Urbanism and Architecture Council

November 30 -- December 2, 2007

CNU DC welcomes the Green Urbanism and Architecture Council, a two and a half-day conference sponsored by the Congress for the New Urbanism and allied organizations.

New Urbanism and traditional building have many convenient solutions for the inconvenient truth of global warming -- but they're not well articulated and they're not well enough known. For that reason, over 100 traditional architects and New Urbanists will assemble for two and a half days at the Alexandria Lyceum and the U.S. Capitol to discuss what needs to be done and how to do it.

As a sponsor of the Council, CNU's DC chapter encourages its members and others in the area to register for the conference and join us for this event.  The Council is being held in Alexandria, VA and Washington, DC, from November 30 to December 2.  Those registering for the Council are invited to join other CNU DC members as we sponsor the November 29 evening cocktail party at the Athenaeum in Alexandria.  For information and online registration to the conference, please visit the Council's webpage.

It's Official: CNU DC Achieves Full Chapter Status

After meeting the prerequisites, including nonprofit 501(c)(3) designation and a minimum number of participating supporters, CNU DC has achieved full chapter status from the CNU National office! This means that CNU DC will have paid memberships to help support activities in the DC area.

Look for our Chapter membership letter coming soon. We'll be sending out more information about Chapter membership via the announcements mailing list.

Registration is available online now for the CNU XV Congress, to be held in Philadelphia, May 17-20, 2007. As you sign up for the Congress and renew your membership, please don't forget to check off the box for DC Chapter membership.

As Philly is so close, we will be organizing a DC train (coordinated ticket times) for those who would like to travel together, so stay tuned for Amtrak details. Also, we are making plans for Chapter actitivities at the Congress -- if you would like to participate, please contact CNU DC president .

Congratulations to all who have helped make this possible!
